Fifth book to arrive in 7 days. This one is by D M Giangreco and published by Naval Institue Press. It is about a hypothetical Operation Downfall, the Invasion of Mainland Japan that was divided into two separate landings Operation Olympic and Operation Coronet.. I am really looking forward to this as Olympic and Coronet are scenarios many wargames and wargamers have acted out. Scanning through the book, one of the chapters is titled ‘Half a Million Purple Hearts’ ! Looks promising and I shall start on it once I finish Frank’s Guadalcanal. Has anyone read Hell to Pay? Any thoughts?
22:00 Hours 7th June 1944
After action report Number 2 for action North of Herouville 7-6-44. Sturmbannfuhrer Wunshce O/C SS Panzer Regiment 12
HQ I SS Panzer Corps ordered a night assault on British positions outside Blainville for 21:00 hours. Once again our Panther Battalion, support by elements of 21st Panzer Division, led the attack against the Tommies. Unlike in Russia, the British infantry was not ready for a nocturnal assault and our advance elements were soon able to capture the enemy’s positions. 6 PAK guns wee captured and several dozen POWs were sent back to the rear echelons. Further harassing fire was conducted on the retreating enemy infantry. Observers have spotted further enemy units dug in at Blainville and we also engaged the PAK front that fired on us in the earlier assault. 1/SS.Pz.Rgt.12 has been ordered back to La Folie to counter any possible British breakthrough in the Cambes-Epron area.
Poor Performance form the Reds, though we played in Blue and Black. Match corresponds to Champions League Match Day 3 that took United away to Romania. Nine changes from the team that played Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday. The match was played in Bucharest as the Galati Satdium, about 140 miles, is rather small, about 15,000 capacity. United failed to make the best of a good playing surface and the wider pitch at the National Stadium. Surprisingly as these would no doubt aid United’s expansive football. The game was a tale of two red cards, Vidic sent off for United, and two legitimate penalties, both scored by Rooney.

Greyjoy and Rader are enjoy an epic match of AE and Greyjoy has posted his AAR. Greyjoy was a new player when he started while Rader has a long association with Witp. The match is one hell of a rollercoaster with Japan conquering almost all of India. I recommend you all go and check it out. It demonstates the steep learning curve of the game but also proves that this monster game can be learned quickly and lots of fun be had along the way.
